Weekend Recap: Mother’s Day

itsy bitsy indulgences {First peonies of the season}

Two events collided this weekend. The first, Mother’s Day. The second, Harper’s 4 month birthday (yes, we consider it a birthday.). It’s so surreal to me that I have been her mom for 4 months. So much has changed and she has taught me so much about life already. She has taught me to take life day by day, to find joy in small moments (like, staring at a ceiling fan or someone repeatedly saying “Aloha!!”), and that your heart really can explode with love for something so tiny! Being on the other side of Mother’s Day this year enabled me to truly understand all that my mother did for me over the years. Her determination, dedication, and constant support were a centerpiece in my life. She was always a safe base and someone I knew I could count on… and being able to celebrate with my grandmother was equally as special… her wisdom and grace are something I aspire to. I am so grateful that Harper has these wonderful women as examples to live by… and that she and I have them in our lives to love. I hope you all had an amazing day being pampered, pampering your mom, or celebrating in the anticipation of a little one on the way!!

Our family loves to celebrate with yummy food… and we don’t pass on dessert either! We made these healthy black bean brownies this weekend (gluten free and dairy free) and they were delish! I went back for seconds, and then some more nibbles!

I’ve been looking for some perfect transitional basics and found so many over the weekend! I love this open knit sweater, and would pair it with these chambray shorts or raw hem denim jeans (in serious need of a new pair of jeans!). This short sleeve and lightweight poncho would pair perfectly with those options too! I recently bought this longline fringe cardi and white flutter blouse and love their simple details. A few other simple, everyday pieces, I’m eyeing include this lace cami (perfect under a denim jacket), chambray stripe dress (love the shape of it!), stripe dress, white fringe off the shoulder top, and a simple twist cami (that comes in multiple colors).

I’m also looking to update the workout wardrobe and am loving the new pieces from Zella at Nordstrom. The price point is always excellent, and the pieces are great quality. I’m loving this white mesh tank, stripe bike shorts, olive colored lattice leggings, muscle tank, and open back sweater. All pieces are under $65. I own many pieces and have never been let down!

And of course I checked out a few pieces for Hawaii. I’m picking up items here and there and right now I’m eyeing this subtle fringe straw hat (I love the little extra detail!), black maxi cover-up (with a slit in the side), these simple slide sandals that can be dressed up or super casual, and I’m going between this striped bathing suit top or this pink reversible one (any suggestions on which to go with??!).
