(Loved all the beautiful Christmas decor over those last couple of weeks…)
Well, that vacation went quickly. TJ + I were chatting Saturday evening about how it literally felt like we were just getting excited for the past two weeks… and now, here we are, new year, new decade, the holidays well past us….
The past two weeks were filled with family time, celebrations, lazy days, and memory making…. everything I’d hoped it would be….
Last week though, someone shared with me a family that was experiencing any parent’s worst nightmare with their little 3 month old son, who eventually passed away. Then, one of TJ’s old co-worker’s 11 year old daughter died unexpectedly while they were on a family vacation. Not knowing either of these families on a personal level, I was surprised at how much I was impacted by their stories. I could literally feel their pain (not that I have any clue how painful their experiences truly are), and I felt as if it was a very real reminder that life is precious. No one is promised tomorrow + today is a gift.
Given that it really wasn’t hard for me to come up with what I wanted for me, and our family, in 2020. I want us to live every day to the fullest, even those very mundane + boring days…. find the joy in small moments… and to always remember that no matter how hard the day might be, it can’t be as hard as not having that day.
So, here’s to a year of being present, loving fully, finding the joy from within, and seeing the day we’re given as a gift. Have a wonderful first week back friends!
(Kicked off the vacation with TJ’s work party…. top, joggers, earrings)
(Took little miss to see her first movie at the theater… Frozen 2… and then a little lunch….)
(Quite possibly the softest pajamas for the first Friday night of vacation… pants, top)
(Took the girls to see Santa… Harper stayed 2 feet away… and then a delicious lunch at Malibu Farms…. sweater, flats, jeans)
(Annnd, just like that it was Christmas Eve… which we hosted at our house with pot pies + wine… joggers, booties, sweater, Harper’s outfit, Camille’s outfit)
(Basically how every afternoon at our house looked like post Christmas… pajamas + this scooter….)
(TJ + I snuck away for a weekend at The Rosewood Miramar in Santa Barbara for an early birthday celebration… pants, top (other Onzie favorites), coatigan, flats)
(A leisurely breakfast followed by a spontaneous bike ride… two words that rarely happen when on vacation with kiddos… leisurely + spontaneous…)
(A casual dinner of margaritas + sushi beachside… leather jacket, sweater, jeans)
(Saying good-bye to our weekend away… coatigan, pants)
(Birthday celebration with my little family… a lunch by the beach followed by pizza + wine…)
(Stayed in on NYE, went to bed at 11pm, and then had a lazy NY day of watching football…. joggers, sweatshirt)
(First sunset of 2020 from our little backyard…)
(A sunny weekend in sandals + a lightweight pullover… jeans, pullover, hat)
(Put away all the Christmas decor and headed down to the beach for a casual lunch… cardigan, flats, hat)
_________
Worked out sporadically + indulged immensely over the past couple of weeks, so looking forward to getting back on track this week. We will likely be making this Asian salmon recipe, and hoping to come up with some more easy weeknight meals. I also purchased this stripe running top + half zip top (in white) for my morning workouts.
I discovered two new jewelry lines over break that I absolutely love. Jules Smith has beautiful pieces that work for everyday as well as dainty statement making pieces. I bought these earrings for holiday gatherings (and beyond)…. I also discovered Zoe Chicco… in particular love her dainty earrings… my parents got me this single earring + ear cuff as a gift.
I’ve really been trying to mix + match my outfits, but have my eye on a few new pieces. I love this basic stripe top, cropped button up cardigan (sort of loving the orange-ish color), and this sweater tee (more of an investment item).
I did purchase this oversized alpaca sweater and love it… can’t wait to style it soon.
If you’re looking for a super comfortable bralette, that doesn’t feel as if you’re wearing anything, I can’t recommend this one more. It’s super comfortable. I wear it all the time.
Annnnd, if you have a warm weather trip coming up, I saw that a few of my personal favorites are either on sale or restocked. This black wrap skirt is a must back, raffia sandals, white high waisted swim bottoms + top, white poncho pullover, and this cute polka dot dress.
