Every once in a while (and I mean ONCE in a while if you’re our family) you get a weekend when there’s absolutely nothing on the agenda. Our dad very fondly refers to these weekends as “N/A: No Agenda.” Well, due to a few unexpected circumstances, Shannon and I both ended up having weekends where we were free to make our own agendas. Interestingly enough, it seemed to give us both our time to really soak in the new year and start initiating our goals for the new year into play. We were able to slow down, relax, and fully embrace the hope, potential, and promise that the new year brings. In not-so-many words, this weekend has been all about new beginnings. And I can’t think of a more appropriate time to refresh, restart, rejuvenate, and re-begin.
{A long bike ride to the beach allows time for reflection and appreciation for California’s magically mild climate. Followed by lunch at a new favorite-Lemonade!}
{It’s time for a fresh start in Shannon and TJ’s home-and new furniture is the best way to do it! Refreshing the look of your home is a perfect way to recreate the feeling you want yourself and others to feel in it.}
{Celebrating all these new beginnings with a crisp, refreshing glass of Lava Vine Sauvignon Blanc…a new favorite winery from Shannon and TJ’s trip up the coast. Plus a craft Moscow Mule to kick it into “weekend mode!”}
{Tried out the cauliflower pizza crust idea attempting to trim the carb load before a tropical vacation (which requires a bathing suit…right after the holidays…) I’m no Giada DeLaurentis, so it turned out less than delicious…let’s just say we will likely be reverting to the traditional whole wheat crust! Paired with a 10 year old bottle of wine. When I asked my dad what the special occasion was that warranted such extravagance, he matter-of-factly stated that we do not need a special occasion-every day is a special occasion. Ok then!}
New beginnings can start at the beginning of every week too! So don’t forget about that Women’s Health Fitness Challenge as you may be continuing to work on that fitness goal for 2014!
One of my best friends gave me this workout tank for Christmas, and I’ve been rocking it, and its delightfully girly statement, at boot camp with pride! If you don’t sweat, you sparkle, I suspect you’ll like it too!
If you’re looking for some inspiration to stay motivated for those new year’s goals, Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten is an oldie, but definitely a goodie-and it perfectly suits this weekend and the tune of the new year!
