{Signs the weekend has arrived: a glass of wine, fresh flowers, and a scented candle.}
When Fridays come I find myself looking to small routines to signal weekend mode: fresh flowers, a scented candle, and some wine (or a Mai Tai if you’re Allison). This routine often carries into Saturday morning with an early morning run, which typically sets the tone for a fabulous full two days off (my bliss!). What happens after those two is anyone’s guess. That’s why I love the weekends so much, the possibilities are endless. Yet, as infinite as they are, I must keep my often grandiose ideas at bay. You see, if it were up to me, I’d do something different every weekend (I think I’ve even suggested a day trip up North… which was met with wide eyes of confusion). I love to explore. Try new things. It keeps me feeling alive. I’ve always felt that life is meant to be lived… I’m not here merely to exist. That is likely why the concept of “lazy days” is always difficult for me! I’m still trying to figure out how to mesh this love of the weekend with my lukewarm relationship with the work week. Suggestions welcome, and I’ll share as I figure it out 🙂
{Allison and I explored 30 miles up the freeway in West Hollywood. Gracias Madre is a delicious vegan mexican food restaurant with scrumptious food and cocktails! Check out the Rosé Margaritas, Taco Trio, and the Flautas De Camote. Seriously, I could have sat there all day, sipping cocktails and talking with Allison (I love that woman!). They have a fabulously light and airy outdoor patio that exudes the aura of “come, sit, and relax.” Which is exactly what we did.}
{After a day of exploring, it was nice to return to an old favorite, Haute Cakes. Live acoustic music while sipping a refreshing cold brew… Sunday doesn’t get much better than that.}
{Does anything else scream summer like fresh ripe peaches and sweet corn on the BBQ? Okay, maybe watermelon :))
