This past weekend was busy busy! Between birthday celebrations, showers, and family celebrations all in one day, I wanted to find an outfit that would be versatile enough to transition between all three occasions. Not too dressy for a 1 year old birthday party, not too casual for a shower, and yet comfortable enough for the driving between and evening celebration with family. So, I opted to balance the distressed denim (again… I see a pattern in this…) with a feminine and more formal tweed peplum. I absolutely love the top because it creates the illusion of curves on an otherwise straight-as-a-board torso (that’s meant to be a kind joke about myself). Peplum can be hit or miss. I think the key, for us short torso people is to make sure that the peplum hits slightly below the waist… then it doesn’t cut us off. Also, it already “poofs” out, so I’d definitely recommend pairing it with a more fitted bottom (not the time to pull out those track pants)! And, can I just add that I am loving the color dusty rose? It’s so feminine and whimsical! Ready for Valentine’s Day anyone??!
The simple accessories easily transitioned between events and day-night! The smaller purse also forced me to minimize my typical daytime load (a stick of black Chapstick, sunglasses, and my phone were all I needed… and it felt quite nice!).
