Between running errands and holiday travel, this time of the year never fails to be busy. It’s always a good busy (I mean, even errands during the Christmas season are more fun…. the stores are festive, airports are decked out with lights….), but can often feel a little on the chaotic side. With our recent travels, I’ve found that upon my return I am greeted with a long to-do list Monday morning. Given that, and in my attempt to not look like a #HotMess, I’ve put together a uniform consisting of comfortable, versatile, and chic items, all from Nordstrom, that are sure to leave me feeling more pulled together than I actually feel on the inside (hey, no one has to know, right??!). Below is my fail proof formula for pulling it all together.
1. Comfortable Pants: Okay, so, I’ve been known to wear my favorite distressed jeans on a flight… but nothing beats a comfortable pair of joggers. Since finding this pair (which I own in all 3 color options), they have been my go-to for all my travels, both via plane and car. They’re stretchy, flattering, and super soft. Need I say more? I also love these velvet joggers (my mom owns them, and I’ve been known to borrow them here and there…), and this option which has a little more structure to it.
2. Comfortable Cardigan: It’s pretty much the perfect layering option. Since temperatures in a car or plane vary drastically (or even by grocery aisle… or store in the mall…), layering is essential. I typically opt for a cozy cardigan since it can easily be removed without having to pull it over my head (….and when you’re traveling with a little one, you need all the free hands you can get…). This oversized option is incredibly comfortable, and has just the right amount of slouch to look effortless. A few other options to consider include this marled knit open front cardigan and this chunky knit cardigan… both will keep you looking pulled together and comfortable.
3. Casual Tee: The bottom layer is always as important as the top layer (IMO), so I always opt for a lighter option, and slightly oversized. This cold shoulder tee was the perfect option for our mini road trip last weekend. The material is incredibly soft, and it hangs in all the right places. The cold shoulder option differentiates it from just a plain ol’ tee…. this striped option and short sleeve version are also great choices.
4. A Tote Bag: The days of traveling with a small, cross body bag are long gone…. so I opt for a bag large enough to fit my items and little miss’. I love the cognac color of this tote …. it’s roomy, without being overwhelming. It’s also a perfect everyday option for running errands! I also love this reversible option (it’s like two for one!) or this nylon tote (which I have owned for several years).
So, there you have it! Here’s to a season of looking chic wherever you go!
