The Strapless Top || 7 Easy Ways To Wear It This Summer Season

We officially closed out the school year for Camille yesterday… and Harper follows on Friday. It feels as if the week is filled with end of the year fun… between a family picnic at Harper’s school yesterday and an “Aloha” themed end of the year party for Camille today… and I can’t help but remember all of the end of the year energy I had when I was their age. Truly such a fun time….

Rewinding a bit, this past weekend I was reunited with one of my best friends from middle school/high school (we’re lucky our husbands and kiddos get along so well…), and whenever we’re together we can’t help but reminisce of good times… most of which are cringeworthy when you think about the fact that we were in high school from the 1998-2002 years…. and one extra cringey moment that always comes to mind is our Sadie Hawkins “rockstar outfits…” complete with purple (me), and blue (her), tube tops… made of stretchy spandex.

“Strapless tops” as they’re now called, have had a bit of a resurgence this season, and while I typically veer away from trends, I gravitated towards this one… and with the right material, and proportions, I think it can elevate any casual outfit for this summer season…

My two main tips for pulling off a strapless top, without looking like you’re back in your high school years would be fit and fabric. No cropped fits, and no spandex-y stretchy fabric. Which is why this knitted one fits the bill perfectly. It’s elevated with more of a knit fabric and soft sweetheart neckline, and the fit is long enough for me to comfortably tuck into shorts and pants (it is stretchy, but it doesn’t “look” that way). To balance out the proportions I’d say no skinny or tight fitting bottoms with this top… I’m opting for looser fitting shorts, loose fitting straight leg jeans, and trouser style pants to create a balance from the fitted feel of the top (I’m also on the hunt for a maxi, or midi, style skirt, and I think it would pair nicely with this top as well).

Below, I’m sharing 7 easy ways that I’ll be wearing (or have worn) this strapless top during the summer season….

And with that, I hope everyone has a great day ahead!
