As a first time mom, there are so many different things to worry about. Everything you do is a “first time” so everything is an experience indeed. The first bath is no exception (and I thought bathing a water fearing dog was an experience!). The first time we bathed Harper the cries were the worst. I wanted to stop the bath immediately, but I knew that she needed it, and therefore we rushed through it in an attempt to end the process as soon as possible. Then, when TJ headed out of town for work, and I had to go it alone, the fear of her squirming out of my hands (despite the fact that we were using an infant tub to facilitate the process) was another struggle. The problem seemed to be that infant baths were made for babies who were not newborn in size.
When I (well really we, because TJ and I share in the bathing responsibilities) received the opportunity to try out Skip Hop’s new Moby Smart Sling 3-Stage baby tub, I was ecstatic. Being a huge fan of their products (I own so many… from onesies to a play station for Harper to enjoy some tummy and back time) I was curious to see how it would compare to their other products, and other infant baths. It certainly didn’t disappoint. For starters, the actual tub is smaller in size, better suited for a tiny little one such as Harper. The real safety enters with the thick mesh sling that connects in all four points of the tub. When it’s bath-time, we simply place her in the mesh sling and bathe her as we normally would… without all the awkward maneuvers needed to bathe and keep her from slipping around. The tub stays put as well, so there is no worry that a sudden movement would make it topple over. The bath will grow with her, as it has three ergonomically comfortable positions based on her size as she grows. The mesh swing helps support sensitive areas, like behind baby’s knees, and helps babies learn to sit while keeping them comfy! The best part though? Her love of bath times. We call her a “lady of leisure” as she lies in her water hammock, soaking up the warm water, and smiling away. Happy baby, happy parents!
