The Aperol Spritz || An Easy Cocktail For The Long Weekend Ahead

The temps have been in the mid 90’s this week… and the last time we experienced weather that warm, we were sipping cocktails in Italy, without a care in the world. So, as we sat out at soccer practice last night, my mind couldn’t help but wander (among many other things, haha) to the upcoming, long, weekend and how good an Aperol Spritz will taste when we’re gathered with family for a relaxing BBQ and some pool time….

And since we’re only a mere 2 days (if you count Friday as the start of the weekend) away from said weekend, I wanted to share the cocktail that’s been on heavy rotation over here since we returned from our trip: The Aperol Spritz. They’re basically an Italian summer in a glass… and SO easy, refreshing, and delicious. They follow an easy 3-2-1 ratio, but I love that you can easily adjust it to your liking- I prefer a bit more Prosecco to Aperol (to make it a little less bitter) but if you prefer the bitter taste (like some members of my family, who enjoy a purely orange beverage….), you can add a bit more Aperol. Sharing the OG recipe below for easy reference:

Ice (we use our pebbled ice cube molds)
3oz Prosecco (we love La Marca
2oz Aperol (I do 1.5 and increase the Prosecco)
1oz club soda (Fever Tree is our preference)
Fresh orange slices

We serve ours in these gold rimmed wine glasses along with these orange and white straws…. makes it feel a bit more like we’re in Italy…

Cheers!
