Hard to believe that Fourth of July is tomorrow…. I always prefer it to land on a day closer to the weekend (I mean, come on, Wednesday is right in the middle of the week…), but regardless, we’re partaking in our favorite holiday festivities… a neighborhood parade (decked out with decorations… if you follow along on instagram stories you likely saw Harper’s get-up…), lots of pool time, and delicious food with family and friends. While Labor Day is a holiday that signifies the “kick-off” of summer, I’ve always felt that The Fourth represents summer in full bloom…..
Annnnd, there is just something about summer that begs for lazier days, laid back style, and less fuss with the beauty routine. Likely because the temperatures are warmer and a majority of the time is spent outside. So, over the years I’ve learned to streamline my beauty + dressing routine to fully experience each and everyday of summer (I mean, who wants to waste time inside getting ready??). I decided to share a few of those tips with you today…..
1. Let The Hair Go: Just do it…. let it air dry, cover it with a hat, toss it up in a cute top knot or low pony and just go. I prefer to allow my hair to air dry over night and when I wake up in the morning I just add some curls and play with the texture (I use this spray to air dry my hair)… which is what I did for these photos….. or, if it’s been a few days I toss on a cute hat (also love Hat Attack hats). Or… if it’s a ponytail/topknot kinda day, these scrunchies are my fav!
2. Minimal Make-Up: One of the reasons I love summer is the natural tan that comes from just being outside (with sunscreen of course)… and I also use this face tanner (anti-aging benefits too) a few times a week to create that natural glow. With that golden glow comes less of a need for make-up… I keep it to a minimum with some light foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, fill in the eyebrows, add a little highlighter, a coat of mascara, and top it off with a nude lip color (honey love color) and I’m ready to go.
3. Summer Go-To’s: A must for all seasons in my book…. having those easy pieces you know will always keep you looking good and feeling comfortable + confident will make getting dressed a cinch. I always recommend a good pair of cut-offs (full review of my favs here), basic tees, comfortable slides, and a few extra pieces here and there… like a cute dress, pretty little lace cami (great for day or night), romper (one of my favs from last year), and a basic bodysuit. If you have one, or a few, of those items you’ll be set to quickly head out the door….
