A few weeks ago, I was looking at my closet rods and thought to myself, “Those look like they are on the verge of collapsing….” Yet I did nothing about it. Last Sunday evening, while we were watching the Oscar’s, there was a loud crash in the closet. I instantly knew. I didn’t want to move off the couch because of the disaster I knew we were about to see (and yes, it was as bad as I thought it would be. Actually, scratch that. It was worse.). Everything was on the ground. Purses were buried, hats were under mounds of clothes, and I couldn’t find a bag that held clothes needing to be returned (oh, the irony.). After I had the world’s biggest pity party, I simply closed the door, utilized avoidance, and decided we would tackle it at a later date.
When a new rod had been hung, I decided it was time to majorly purge my closet. I had already done so prior to Harper’s arrival (part of that nesting urge)… but I knew more needed to be done. So, I went to town…. three large trash bags later the closet was reassembled. Lesson? Not sure, but I do know one thing, I have a thing for striped shirts.
Why? Simply put, they can make any outfit feel put together and “fresh” if you will (not sure I like that word choice, but it will do). I pull for stripes in sweaters, tops, skirts, dresses, and button-ups. For me, they are the perfect accessory to any outfit… and I didn’t give one away in the closet purge.
