Admittedly, I’ve been quite indulgent this trip. Tacos (almost daily), buffet brunches, chips + salsa while sipping some bubbly during little miss’ nap, Mai Tais (plural), french fries (yes), nachos (with or without all the fixing), mimosas…. I mean, there hasn’t been much restraint demonstrated. Working out has remained rather moderate as well… I had one ambitious morning where I took off for an early sunrise run…. then we did a family hike… and the rest have involved long morning walks on the boardwalk, followed by some shorter strength training moves (and I did step on the stair-master in the gym today for 20 minutes…). I’m fairly certain come Saturday, our return date, I’ll be ready to get back on track. Yet, what fun would life be if you didn’t live a little? Throw all the routine and “normal” way of life out the window for a few days? Boring, IMO. So, that’s just what I did, and will continue to do for the next few days…. life’s about balance… and sometimes balance means indulging a little more than usual….
Which is how I came to fall in love with this rosette cardigan. Feeling as if most of the items in my closet were fairly balanced, I decided I needed something to shake things up a bit… bring a little life into an otherwise fairly neutral wardrobe. And that’s just the point of statement pieces…. to add a little bit of spice to neutrality. It easily pairs with a black dress, leggings and a tee, and black slacks for the workplace.
A few other statement pieces I have my eye on include this multi-stripe sweater, stripe turtleneck sweater, sequin top, and these pearl embellished jeans (such a great price too!).
