On my most recent trip to the mall (Harper in tow), I couldn’t help but stop and reflect on how these trips have changed over the years. Pre mom life, I leisurely strolled from store to store. Stood in front of items, feeling the materials, and imagining where I might wear the piece. I could take my time in the dressing room…. maybe take a selfie wearing an item and actually wait for my mom or sister to respond with a “yay” or “nay” response. Now, if I choose to be brave and take my little tornado to the mall, it’s typically spent jumping from koi pond to koi pond at our favorite outdoor mall, and using the “neigh neigh ride” (aka carousel) to buy myself an extra 5 minutes here and there. And while my shopping trips to the mall are much more memorable than they used to be (like the time Harper + I had a show down while leaving, and she did not want to hold my hand in the parking lot…. so I gave her a choice “hold my hand, sit in the stroller, or I pick you up…” she chose to bolt, I picked her up, and she screamed “ouuuuuch…..” that made for some interesting looks… and beads of sweat dripping down my forehead….). All that to say, I much prefer to peruse the on-line stores 90% of the time….
Annnnd, on my last on-line shopping trip (right from the comfort of my own couch, in my favorite cozies, while my little tornado was fast asleep….) I couldn’t help but get caught up in all the beautiful spring/summer arrivals from the Topshop collection at Nordstrom. So many adorable pieces, at excellent price points (#YAS), that can easily be dressed up or down. I was on the hunt for something a little different than my regular denim shorts…. and ended up snagging these adorable stripe paperbag shorts (I also own this linen pink pair….) + button front cami for the warmer temperatures that we are experiencing (and will continue to have over the next few months). I am obsessed with the paperbag shorts trend as an alternative to my go-to denim cut-offs. It’s an easy way to stay casual during the day, and they can easily be dressed up for the evening with a wedge (or pretty little flat sandal) + blazer. I love it paired with this everyday cami (snagged it in pink as well), which could also easily go with your favorite jeans for an evening look… or this cute button front skirt.
A few other Topshop items that I’m eyeing, (all while sitting on my couch), include this beautiful cutout side midi slipdress (the light pink color) for Mother’s Day, asymmetrical button front blouse (these wood buttons are my fav….), adorable sleeveless button romper, cute little wide leg trousers (great for work life too), and this little button slipdress. Love that they’re all super versatile, on trend, and affordable… oh, and available on-line (thank goodness!)!
