The last time TJ and I were in Barcelona we went into the country with what were likely unrealistic expectations (for the time of year). We assumed that in April, the weather would be nothing less than exceptionally perfect. TJ convinced me to go there (I wanted to go to Switzerland) under the premise that the weather would be “just like southern California.” I watched the weather reports leading up to the trip and they were all showing clear skies and warm-ish temps. Two days before we were set to leave Monaco for Barcelona, so was a nasty storm…. which ultimately touched down at the same moment our plane wheels did. It poured (and I’m talking sheets of rain here) for 4 days straight. The pool that we had anticipated sipping cocktails in was closed, and the attire called for rain boots (in my case the running shoes… since this weather wasn’t in line with my expectations when I was packing), heavy sweaters, and overcoats. This time around? The weather was beautiful. Sunny skies, mild temps, and a slight breeze. I couldn’t have been happier when I was able to wear this maxi and sandals combo, for our first day of sightseeing, in a country where the only weather I knew was stormy.
