A couple of months ago, we had the opportunity to meet up with a fellow Southern California blogger, Kathleen-creator of the blog Carrie Bradshaw Lied. On her blog, Kathleen blogs about all sorts of fun and creative things, like fashion, recipes, and DIY projects! She is an Orange County implant from the south who is fun, witty, and has quite an eye for style, if we do say so ourselves! The three of us met up over a margartita and some tasty Mexican food and decided to collaborate on some fun and diverse ways to wear sequins, so we have put together a two-day feature of some various ways to wear sequins-a style I’ve always viewed as dressy and pretty largely a night-time trend. However, check out how Kathleen and I put together sequins for a totally day-appropriate outfit, and don’t forget to head over to Carrie Bradshaw Lied!
This gorgeous lady chose this fabulous sequin black cardigan, and in order to dress it down, she pairs it with a super causal T-shirt and boyfriend jeans. These two casual elements are wrapped up nicely with a bow with a pair of basic black heels to add an extra dose of basic but fancy. And by the way, can Kathleen teach me how to get that hair?
I opted for this long sleeved sequin top which, ironically, was worn for a New Year’s celebration last year…talk about versatility! The army jacket dresses the sequins way down, and offers a fun juxtaposition of ultra feminine and girly with trendy and punky. To tone down the sequins just a bit more (they’re even brighter in person!), I added this luxuriously rich merlot-colored infinity scarf from Lulu*s. This scarf is the perfect color and texture (so soft) for Fall, and I loved the idea of pairing it with the sequins. The scarf adds another dimension to the outfit, and it is the perfect transitional piece from day to night, as well as summer to Fall. It’s so comfy, and you’ll very likely see this scarf (and this color!) in future posts this Fall/Winter!
To pull the look together, I threw in an extra pattern in the shoes. These loafers are a neutral color, but the pattern of the shoes adds another place for the eyes besides just the sequins-it’s all about balance!
Check back tomorrow for Kathleen’s and Shannon’s interpretation of night-time sequins!
