Growing up, my mom’s closet was a treasure trove of possibilities. There were vintage bags, high heels, and fancy pieces. I vividly recall begging my mom to wear one of her tops (at the ripe old age of 8) to school. At first she politely attempted to explain to me that it wouldn’t be possible, as the top was much too big for my child frame. As I stubbornly persisted (I’m still just as stubborn) the conversation grew more stern. Mom won. Then there was the time she was headed out on a date with my dad in a pretty summer dress and I swore that would be my prom dress someday. Well, it wasn’t. All of this to say, as we grow up, there are certain “things” we’re supposed to grow out of… some a little more meaningful than others. I’m still as stubborn as ever and I still borrow from my mom’s closet (this time, the clothes fit…). This shirt is just one of those pieces. It’s mom’s holiday top that I hacked for a fun daytime holiday celebration.
On a side note, sequins during the day doesn’t have to be scary. Simply pair them with a causal pair of jeans and you’re ready to go! Sequins dressed down, if you will.
