I’ve always believed that a woman should have an article of clothing in her closet that makes her feel “powerful.” For some, that’s an amazingly tailored pant-suit. For others, it’s a dress that hangs in all the right places… and for some, it’s a killer pair of shoes. When I was younger, I would watch my mom get dressed for work, and while I don’t remember much, I remember the vintage (well vintage now) Gucci briefcase she toted off to work. Not that I knew the brand back then, but there was something powerful and commanding about watching her head to work with that in her hands.
While I’ve never thought that clothes or accessories make the women (ever), I do believe that the right outfit can add to confidence and make a woman feel powerful. For me, I’ve always had pieces, throughout the years, that made me feel extra confident. From the night before the first day or school, to the evening before college interviews, and the morning starting a new job… there have always been integral pieces in helping me feel prepared for the day. Right now, my power piece has to be these (faux) leather pants. Not that they’re anywhere near acceptable for my 9-5 job (like, at all). Yet, as the belly grows and the urge to be on the fumppy side creeps in, just placing these bad boys on makes me feel powerful again (and by that I mean they make me feel like I don’t have a big watermelon protruding out from my belly)… and to end this on a slightly humorous note… they are right now at the tailors… since I ripped a pretty large hole in the crotch area pulling them up for this post. Ooops.
I hope you all have a relaxing weekend! If you’re looking for some cozy pieces to add to your weekend wardrobe, this top I’m wearing is right up your ally. It’s super soft, pairs with anything, and is a perfect price point! I wear it all the time.
