My Go-To Knits For Cooler Temps

Everybody over here had a case of the Mondays… tired, a few tantrums, stinky attitudes… and then there were the kiddos… just kidding… sort of. Joking aside, it did feel like a Monday yesterday, and after the girls went down it was nice to just relax and turn the brain off. We also ended up making beer can chickens on the grill Sunday afternoon, in preparation for the week ahead, and ended up reheating one for dinner last night. It made for an easy, delicious, low mess, meal for the entire family… and also reminded me how much a little meal prep on a Sunday afternoon can help to ease the burden for the week ahead… I used to do it all the time and need to get back into it ASAP.

And now it’s Tuesday… and on this Tuesday I’m sharing some of my go-to knits for cooler temps. Some of these sweaters I’ve had for a couple of years, some are newer, but either way, they’re the ones I find myself reaching for when the temps drop to an appropriate weather. I’ve included all sizing info under each photo.

I hope you all have a great day ahead!

This pink sweater was a more recent purchase (aka, it arrived this weekend), but it’s great. It’s not itchy at all (no wool), a thicker material (so will for sure keep you nice and warm), and I love the pink color as an addition to my wardrobe. I went with my regular size, but if you want it more oversized, I recommend sizing up. (jeans)

I bought this alpaca crewneck sweater two years ago and it’s a great, lighter-weight, option. Chatting itch scale… I’d say it’s a 4 on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being super itchy). I sized up one for a looser fit (my regular size was too fitted for my liking)… and it comes in so many other beautiful color options.

I received this Jenni Kayne Fisherman sweater as a birthday gift this year. It’s more of an investment piece, but several of the other sweaters that I have from her have lasted 2+ years, so I know this one won’t be any different. It’s incredibly soft, versatile, and has the perfect oversized fit. I am wearing my regular size. I don’t have a code, but you can use code Natalie15 for 15% off.

I shared 8 ways to wear this cozy sweater coat (sweater here) in a post last week, but it’s a good top layer for cold days! It’s heavy, not itchy, and pairs well with so many different pieces in my closet. (sneakers)

This Everlane half zip is one of the coziest, oversized, half zips I own…. it’s a soft wool, with the best oversized, but not swimming in it, fit. I went with my regular size, and I don’t recommend sizing up. Low stock in this color, but there are some other colors still available.

So this half zip isn’t as soft as the one above, but you can’t beat the price point and the beautiful camel color. You can easily wear it with jeans and layer a top coat over it as well… and if you’re shorter the length works with leggings. I purchased my regular size, but could have sized up for an even looser fit.

I got this cable knit half zip for our snow trip to Park City and it was super comfortable… you could easily layer a turtleneck under it for a cute layered look as well, or you could toss is on with a pair of jeans and boots… or a comfy pair of joggers. I love the texture the cable knit adds. I purchased my regular size.

So if you’re looking to add some color to your wardrobe, this ombré sweater is a beautiful option. I included it in my Thanksgiving Outfit ideas post. I do think it runs on the itchier side… on a scale from 1-10, with 1 being soft and 10 being so itchy you have to pull it off, it’s about a 5. For reference, I am mildly sensitive to wool. Other than that, I’m wearing my regular size and I think it would be great for spring as well.

I brought this sweater with me on our trip to Malibu, and it’s so warm and soft that I wish I could wear it everyday (but it’s been way too hot here lately….). The oversized fit isn’t overwhelming, the neckline doesn’t feel tight, and the color is beautiful. I love pairing it, untucked, with leggings… or front tucked with joggers for a more casual option. (similar scarf and a similar option)

I was nervous when I bought this oversized, ribbed, cashmere cardigan 1.5 years ago. It was very pricey, and I wasn’t sure it would (1) be worth it (2) I’d wear it that much. (1) it has proven to be well worth it… I wear it any chance I get… buttoned and front tucked, casual, dressed up, in the summer or the cooler months…. the material is so soft (it does pill, but I use a sweater shaver to solve that issue)… (2) I just mentioned how much I wear it, so I’ve gotten my cost per wear for sure. It is hands down one of my all time favorites in my closet. This is an identical option as well. (again, 15% off with code Natalie15).

Another loose fitting, ribbed, non-itchy, cozy sweater option… comes in petite sizes as well. I think it would also pair so beautifully with white denim for a winter white look… or a pretty option for spring.
