Spring Denim Roundup: My Favorite Petite-Friendly Jeans

Denim is the foundation of my wardrobe year-round, but especially in the spring when getting dressed becomes a little easier and lighter layers start to return. A great pair of jeans can carry you through everything—from school drop-offs to casual dinners—and I find myself relying on a handful of tried-and-true pairs that consistently work.

For spring, I tend to reach for lighter washes, relaxed silhouettes, and denim with just enough comfort to wear all day while still looking polished. As someone who is 5’2″, finding jeans that fit well without major tailoring is always part of the equation, so many of the styles I gravitate toward are also great options for petite frames.

In today’s post, I’m sharing a roundup of my favorite denim for spring—from classic straight-leg jeans to subtle barrel styles and a few relaxed options that feel a bit more casual. Some of these pairs have been wardrobe staples for a few seasons, while others are newer additions that quickly earned a spot in my regular rotation.

If you’re looking for comfortable, versatile jeans to wear this spring, these are the styles I’ve been reaching for most.

Hoping to have March’s capsule up soon! (so much later… I got hit with a mild case of the flu a week or so again and that put me behind a bit). Have a great day everyone!
______

PAJAMA SOFT WIDE LEG DENIM

(Jeans, Sweater, Sandals)

I bought these last spring and they quickly became one of my most-worn pairs. They have a softer, almost sweatpant-like feel, but with a button and zip closure and functional front pockets, so they still read like elevated denim rather than loungewear.

One thing to note: they do shrink. If you’re petite (around 5’2″ and under), you can actually toss them in the dryer and they’ll shrink up to a more manageable inseam. Otherwise, I’d recommend following the wash instructions carefully to maintain the original length.

FULL LENGTH BARREL JEANS

(Jeans, Sweater, Sweatshirt, Cap, Sandals)

I know barrel jeans can be a bit controversial—you either love them or you don’t. I happen to fall firmly in the former category and own this pair from Everlane in three washes (you can see the black version below). They have a great high-rise fit, and the barrel shape is subtle enough that it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

I personally prefer the full-length version (the 29″ inseam) and find myself wearing them well into summer with simple tanks and sandals. I would recommend sizing up one in this style for the best fit.

BLACK FULL LENGTH BARREL JEANS

(Jeans, Tank, Jacket, Bag, Sandals)

CROPPED WIDE LEG JEANS

(Jeans (petite size), similar top, Sweater, Sandals, Cap)

Lately I’ve found myself gravitating toward more full-length denim, but a cropped pair still has its place—especially when you want to show off a great pair of sandals or flats. This pair is perfect for that. I love the lighter wash for spring and summer, and the slight stretch makes them incredibly comfortable with a really flattering fit. They run true to size and the petite sizing is especially great for shorter frames.

WIDE LEG JEANS

(Jeans, Top (another option), Bag, Necklace)

These jeans have had a hold on me since summer 2025. They’re one of those pairs you put on and immediately feel good in. Unfortunately, they’re running low in stock and I haven’t been able to find them widely available elsewhere.

They have a great high-rise fit, a bit of stretch for comfort, and just a touch of fraying at the hem that gives them a relaxed, laid-back feel. Incredibly versatile and a pair I find myself reaching for time and time again.

DRAWSTRING BARREL JEANS

(Jeans, Tank, Sweatshirt, Sandals, Hat, Bag)

A newer addition to my closet, I was immediately drawn to these for their subtle curved shape, lighter wash, and the drawstring detail. They’re soft and comfortable, yet still feel elevated enough to wear out and about while keeping that relaxed, casual vibe. If you’re petite like me, I’d recommend opting for the petite sizing for the best fit.

CLASSIC STRAIGHT LEG

(Jeans, Classic Black Buttondown, Cap, Sandals)

A classic straight-leg jean is always a good idea. These were definitely an investment, but the quality is excellent—the denim is soft while still feeling like true denim (not the ultra-soft, pajama-like kind). The cropped length is perfect for petite frames, and the high-rise fit is especially flattering.

They’re incredibly versatile and pair well with just about anything. I especially love them with sandals and slides during the spring and summer months.

TAN DRAWSTRING FULL LEG WIDE LEG

(Jeans, Top (another option))

These high-waisted drawstring jeans combine a few fun elements—an alternative blue denim wash and a drawstring waist—that make them feel a little different while still being incredibly functional in my wardrobe. They’re easy, comfortable, and perfect for casual spring and summer outfits.

I love pairing them with lightweight sweaters, oversized button-downs, and simple tees or tanks. I opted for the regular length rather than petite because I didn’t want them to hit cropped.
