Home || Our Pool Renovation

When we bought this house 2.5 years ago, we were sold on the size of the backyard…. and once we attacked the overgrowth of brush, we were shocked to discover that we had eight additional feet of space (width wise). In fact, in my letter to the owner, I specifically mentioned the hopes we had for the backyard space one day… hopefully being able to put in a pool to create similar memories that I had growing up in my parent’s home (and still do have…).

Back in March, when we started to spend so much more time at home, specifically in our backyard, we decided to work on upgrading it a little… landscaping, re-doing the flooring of the patio (that post is available here), and making plans to put in a pool. We ended up “breaking ground” on the pool construction back in the beginning of October, and last Friday passed our final county inspection which made it “officially” complete.

We haven’t taken an inaugural dip yet since we need to wait to heat the pool (we have to wait several weeks to allow the pebble tec to “cure”), but I’m looking forward to making memories in this pool with our girls as they grow (and beyond). We still have to finish landscaping around the pool area, and need to put up a fence around it (until Camille gets a little older), and add some furniture and plants, but for all intents and purposes, this is the completed pool. Sharing some photos of the building process, pool details, as well as the furniture we’re looking at below!

POOL CONSTRUCTION

(Obviously a before photo of the area….)

(After the first day of digging….)

(More digging and framing…)

(Installation of the rebar…)

(After the installation of the shot creek… the step right before the pebble tec)

(Construction complete.)

POOL DETAILS

Pool Company: We went with Platinum Pools and couldn’t have had a better experience. They were honest, knowledgable, communicative, and were here when they said they would be. I highly recommend them.

Pool Finishings:
Decking- We wanted a wood looking deck, but obviously wood wasn’t the best option around a pool. So we went with . It’s non-slip which is great. It’s a PeraTile 8×48 Chestnut (National Pool Tile)
Coping- Limestone (National Pool Tile)
Pebble Tec- We went with the color Tahoe Blue

POOL FURNITURE

(Love Seat | Chairs | Fire pit (we’re moving the one from our patio to the pool area) | Bar Cart | Planter | Chaise Lounge Chairs (the ones in the image, that we own and love, were too red toned, so we purchased the pair I linked to compare them) |String Lights (to cover over seating area, not water) | Towels)
