It was around this same time last year that TJ + I started getting our backyard ready for the spring + summer season…. we purchased new patio furniture, hung our first strand of twinkly lights, and bought our fire-pit (which we both still agree was one of our smartest purchases last year….)…

Last year we thought for certain we would have a completely renovated + beautifully landscaped backyard by this time. That was wishful thinking if I ever saw it!

Instead, we decided to do small things where we could to make our backyard an oasis we’ve always wanted it to be. We were working with our gardener to landscape the backyard with some flowers + sod (in a particular corner where the lounge-chairs will go), but that’s been put on hold while we wait out the quarantine…

Aside from that, we’ve hung some more lights, purchased a few more items to make the backyard a place we can hang out in, play some games, and feel like a mini escape, during this shelter in place time (and beyond….). We’re still waiting for a few of the items I shared to arrive, so I’ll share photos as it all comes together….

So for today’s post I decided to compile all of our outdoor living products we love… some games for adults, fun items for kiddos, and outdoor dining options as well (we’ve been eating dinner outside lately and it’s been such a game changer for the mood….).

I did have to include a “before” photo of this patio area that was taken right after we bought the home. When I make the comparison from what it was then to what it is now, I can’t help but feel as if the backyard has already undergone a huge remodel….. It’s amazing what a little paint, seed (that’s how we got grass in the backyard), and touching up of the pergola can do…. #startsmall is my motto.
