One of my absolute favorite traditions of the Christmas season is that we host Christmas Eve. We go to church early, we opt for the child friendly service since it’s great for Harper, and then everyone comes back to our house. I’ve shared before, but the evening is relatively casual… I pick up pot-pies from a local spot, we have some wine, a delicious dessert (I’ll be sharing this year’s dessert option next week….), listen to Christmas music, and enjoy the company of family. We’ve been doing this ever since TJ + I were married, and since we weren’t in our home last year (living with my parents….) I’m super excited to start the tradition up again this year…..
And while Christmas Day is a more casual affair, Christmas Eve we tend to dress up a little, despite the overall dinner being much more casual. And since Christmas Eve is a mere 12 days away, I thought I’d share what I’m thinking for our Christmas Eve outfits this year. I mean, I might not be finished with my Christmas shopping yet, but at least we won’t be scrambling 30 minutes before church trying to figure out what to wear…..
For our outfits I wanted something fun and festive for the girls… and of course started this search at Nordstrom since I always have success finding cute matching outfits for them there. When I pulled out this tutu skirt + velour bodysuit combo, Harper’s eyes immediately lit up (which, when you’re trying to dress a toddler, is a huge win)…. with there being a silky lining, the skirt isn’t itchy at all, and she felt like a little ballerina, especially when paired with these “fancy shoes” as she calls them. The matching outfit for Camille made Harper even more excited. Sparing TJ from matchy-matchy looks (much appreciated by him…) we got him a slim fitting, waffle knit, pullover…. great for a business casual environment as well (or as a gift). I wanted something that was easy to move in, could be worn after the holiday season, and would flow with the girls’ outfits…. so this ruffle hem sliky skirt + fuzzy sweater seemed to be the perfect combo (and, btw, it’s truly hard to believe that I used to wear heels like this regularly… like, I could run in them….). So there you have, a simple, fun, and festive Christmas Eve outfit for the entire family….
And, in case you’re still looking for some gifts for the kiddos or men in your life, Nordstrom has great ideas for both! For TJ’s stocking I like this airpod case (love the twill fabric). I also love this basic crewneck sweatshirt (great paired with one of his favorite pairs of joggers), these drivers (an “investment gift”), whiskey set of glasses + rocks, + I also stuff some of these boxer briefs into the stocking as well (TMI??)! For little Camille I ordered her this cute little llama teether that attaches to her clothes (since we’re currently loving the game of “I throw it down, you pick it up….”). I also bought her this little explore + more crawl toy (great for development, or so I’ve read), and this cute unicorn sensory book. I always suggest Freshly Picked moccasins as a gift to little ones as well. They’re our go-to shoes for Camille (and they were for Harper as well). Harper has been super into fun + glittery accessories… if you are a traveling family, this little travel set is so adorable (whenever we’re at an airport Harper wants one of those pillows…). I am also deciding between this trolly backpack or unicorn roller backpack for sleepovers at my parent’s house. Either way, I think she would be so excited for that, since she is always wanting to pull our luggage when we travel….
So… while I still have a few more items to pick up for others, I at least know we have our Christmas Eve outfits set!
