Holiday Hosting || Simple Touches To Make Your Home A Home To Others

Happy Friday friends! We’re heading to Arizona bright and early this morning for a fun little Christmas getaway, and hope you have something festive planned for your next few days as well!

I received a question on instagram the other day regarding ways to prep your home for holiday guests, and I thought it would make a fun blog post as we move closer and closer to the weekend where a lot of people will be heading out of town to visit family. It’s a relatively random compilation of ideas I had, so take what works + leave what doesn’t!

GUEST ROOM PREP

Whenever we have guests visit I’ve wanted the guest room to feel warm + inviting. Fresh + clean sheets, with a blanket draped over the foot of the bed, to ensure they don’t get cold since everyone has their own temperature preferences when sleeping. We recently got this throw blanket (in the red + white for the holidays, ShannonP15 for 15% off) + love it. You could also place a pretty diffuser in their room, with lavender, to help ensure a good night’s sleep. A few other things to place in the side table drawer? Ear plugs, kleenexes, + a sound machine (we have an echo) in case they prefer light white noise….

BATHROOM PREP

I love the idea of having a nice robe for guests. This waffle knit robe has that luxury feel and you can easily wash it and store for when other guests come as well. Having some nice body soap, lotion, + hair products is great as well in case they didn’t bring their own.

KITCHEN

Whenever I know that we will be having guests, I like to stock up the refrigerator + pantry with snacks + other items I know that they like…. wine, coffee, crackers, fruit, etc…. and then I let them know that they can help themselves! Given that all my friends have kids, I like the idea of putting together a fun s’mores platter for the kiddos to make some post dinner treats! I used all clean sweet treats (Lily’s Peanut Butter Cups, Graham Crackers, Smash Mallows (flavored marshmallows), Lily’s Chocolate Bars, strawberries, + pretzels). I mean, even if kiddos aren’t there, this is a pretty delicious spread for adults too!
