Holiday Dressing || Sequins + Jeans

Yesterday I had lunch with two of my girlfriends, and our little ones, from grad school. It had been forever since the three of us had been together, so we had a lot of catching up to do (as much as you can with little ones running around). Amidst the updates, we had some laughs about the past… and our old Christmas parties we used to have. Ugly sweaters…. charades (there was booze involved….)…. a small apartment… you probably get the picture. And while I still wouldn’t mind a fun tipsy game of charades…. I’m not that upset that my holiday attire has changed over the years (although, a fun ugly Christmas sweater party is always a good laugh…)….

As I mentioned in this post, my holiday style remains fairly consistent, mainly because I like to feel comfortable + confident in what I am wearing. For a get together we had a little while ago, I couldn’t figure out what to wear. I tossed on velvet joggers (these were too long on me… but would be so cute for a taller person), a forest green velvet dress (decided it was too formal), and a gold, cropped sequin top (wanted to wear it with the joggers, so it was a no go). I tried to make all the pieces work, but just felt “off” in them. I decided to head to my denim drawer, and pulled out a favorite pair of jeans and dressed them up a bit with this gorgeous sequin top. I immediately felt comfortable. Tossed on a few favorite accessories (often times it’s a Gorjana piece) and headed out…

So, I guess you could say my number on rule for any occassion is that I have to feel both comfortable + confident in whatever I am wearing… because really, confidence is the best outfit you can wear…..
