Festive Red + Summer Traditions

summer red dress, itsy bitsy indulgences

I always love this time of year. It seems as if when the 4th of July rolls round, summer is well underway, and the traditions of the season are unfolding. I love family traditions, especially around special holidays. They seem to ground and root me… remind me of the memories of the past and help in the creation of memories in the future. When I used to meet with my clients, I typically discovered that their families were void of traditions. It was something I encouraged them to establish and explained that by creating them, they can help to facilitate strong family bonds and relationships. As I’ve gotten older and started a family of my own, my past traditions have helped shape those that I hope to provide my little family with. As we get closer to this 4th of July weekend, I eagerly anticipate those that will take place over the extended weekend. Festive dressing (lots of red, white, + blue here!), hours spent in the pool, fall-off-the-bone bbq ribs, dining al fresco, and roasting s’mores in the backyard fire-pit. While they are simple traditions, they ground me and help me feel connected.

And now, a little bit about this little red dress (or long red dress…). I love it. It’s simple, lightweight, and the pockets add just the perfect touch. I can’t wait to wear it all summer, to so many different events. It’s causal enough for daytime and dressy enough for an evening soiree. I wore it this past weekend in Palm Springs to grab a quick happy hour drink… so it’s obviously perfect for a little margarita sipping.

If you’re looking for some extra 4th of July outfit inspiration, I love this red fiesta mini dress, red and white open back dress, blue and white striped fit + flare dress, drop waist gingham dress, and simple blue and white knit tank dress.  I’m also loving this little red romper and this striped romper, both such cute alternatives to dresses. If you’re looking for a few casual tees and tanks I love this red, white, + blue boatneck top, stripe dolman tee (which I own from a few years ago, super comfy), and this multi colored striped linen tank. Or… if an all white look is more your jam try this festive scarf, or this one, and this fun clutch and red espadrilles.

Hope you’re all eagerly anticipating a fun weekend!
