If you’re anything like me, dressing for the holidays has evolved over the years. You see, I’ve (and I include Allison in this) evolved from ugly Christmas sweaters (although these can sometimes come in handy for those fun sweater parties) to wanting to look slightly more refined. Allison and I were laughing the other day, as we perused over old family Christmas photos. There was the one where I insisted (and I can’t stress the fact that I wanted this) on sleeping in sponge rollers the evening before our family Christmas photo. My mom attempted to let me know, several times, politely, that I would likely not be pleased with the end result. Yet, I had this vision of perfectly tousled curls for those photos (cut me some slack here, I was only 10 years old). The outcome? Pretty much what you would expect. Curls that made my hair look about five inches shorter and that when you pulled them they bounced back to their starting position (boing noise optional). Or the year Allison rocked the bowl cut (thanks to my dad’s skilled, or not so skilled, beautician techniques). Belly hurting laughter as we reminisced.
