Fall’s Transitional Essentials… And The Logic Behind Them All…

fall essentials, itsy bitsy indulgences{Shirtdress || Olive Distressed Denim || Blush Fedora || Tan Scarf || White Clutch || Plaid Dress || Plaid Top || Olive Booties || Fringe Booties || Leopard Booties || White Blouse || Poncho}

I am very aware that Southern California is currently in the middle of a heat wave (well, the tail end of it that is…) and here I am posting about fall. Crazy lady, right?? But… it’s really not too soon to be curating that fall wardrobe. Or maybe that’s just me?? Either way, I’m sharing my favorite fall essentials today and I couldn’t be more excited about them. You’ll see a lot of neutrals (with the exception of a few plaid favorites) so that the pieces can be worn dozens of times with different accessories and outfits. An item or two might be considered a deep pocket investment, but will be classic and timeless (an “itsy bitsy indulgence” if you will). Other pieces are a little more on the fun side and definitely won’t break the bank! And… they are transitional… fall seems to be oddly placed between summer and winter… so you need pieces that can work when it’s warm, and cold, outside 🙂

For starters, I’m still loving all things fringe. After picking up this jacket at the half yearly sale (budget friendly!!), I decided adding a few more pieces to my wardrobe wouldn’t hurt, right? Personally, I prefer one piece at a time… overdoing it just looks too Western for me.

Booties are perfect for me this fall… by my third trimester they will be just the right heel height so I won’t topple over. If you’re not sprouting a bump that’s going to throw off your center of gravity, they are the perfect shoe to transition you from a casual brunch, to evening cocktails with the girls. I’m loving these leopard print ones.

The poncho was around last season, and doesn’t seem to have disappeared. These two here and here are a little more budget friendly than the one above, but seriously, can we please have a moment for that one?? The colors, the details! Pair it with a black pair of leggings and booties for a day of errands, or dress it up at night with leather leggings and a white silk blouse. You’ll be on fire!

Plaid is always, always a great daytime essential. Paired with a bootie and an oversized scarf and you look effortlessly chic. If you want to dress it up for evening, that’s doable too! Just pair with a leather jacket and a higher heel and you’ll be on fleek (did I use that right??). Especially if the combo includes this little dress.

Which takes me right into the shirtdress. There couldn’t be anything more “transition” worthy. In the warmer fall days, you can pair with a simple pair of flats. As the weather begins to cool, toss on a scarf, some booties (or even over the knee boots!), a sweater, and you are set.

The white blouse… I don’t need to explain much here. I buy one (or three, ooops) every season. They’re timeless, classic, and chic. I’m loving mine paired with a pretty little bralette… a touch of sugar and spice.

A white clutch? I don’t believe in the “no white after Labor Day” rule. Never have. I feel as though a white clutch adds a refined and polished look to any ensemble… whatever season it might be. I’m “wish-listing” the one above, but also loving this less expensive perforated clutch.

And, last but not least… please don’t ever leave the house without the felt fedora (I think I wore mine everywhere last year and can’t wait to wear it again!)… it’ll keep your hair tame on a windy day, or just make a bad hair day all better 🙂
