I’ve always joked with my girlfriend, who is an interior designer, that she can look at a blank room and make magic happen (really, you should see her house…). I can look at a blank room and formulate what I want it to look like, but when it boils down to it the execution is nothing better than mediocre. No wow factor there. Where my real passion comes in is with a blank clothing canvas. I like to revert back to the “neutral” canvases when I’m feeling uninspired, or simply not sure where to go. And since summer’s blank canvas was white, it only makes logical sense for fall’s (and winter, but we’re not going there just yet….) to be black (I toyed with other colors too, but I’ll save those for a later date and time). I don’t really need to explain what is going on in the outfit above, but I opted for gold tones in my accessories because I feel they always liven up an otherwise neutral ensemble. As for the leopard? Well, as far as Jenna Lyons (the mastermind behind J Crew) and I am concerned, it’s pretty much a neutral as well!
