I used to dread shopping for jeans. I felt as if they were always too long (so I never got a clear vision of what they would really look like) and I always felt it was just hard finding a pair that fit my body….
I’d have to say that I gained much more clarity out of what I wanted in jeans, as well as what styles would complement my body, after I had Harper. I can’t really pinpoint why, but it was really at that point that I started to hone in on wearing what made me feel good. That often meant less skinny jeans (I still own a couple pairs, but they’re not my go-to anymore) more straight legged, girlfriend fit… along with a high waist rise. I learned what inseams elongated my shorter legs (typically a 24 to 26 inseam depending on style) and that I could easily create the looks I wanted with a simple DIY project (my DIY on the raw hem here).
So while I know that everyone’s denim preferences differ, I’m rounding up 6 of my go-to pairs of denim today. A few brands/lines that I’ve found to consistently fit well on my body are AGOLDE, Levi’s, and Everlane. I’ve had most of these for a year or two and find myself reaching for them over and over again….
Hope you all have a great weekend!
AGOLDE JAMIE JEANS

(shoes)
The AGOLDE Jamie jeans might be my most “reached” for pair of jeans… I love the way they fit, the lighter wash, and the slight distressing in the jeans. They’re high waisted, but not constricting. I cut the hem of the jeans and allowed them to fray naturally. I recommend sizing up in these jeans as I found them to run a tad small (as opposed to the AGOLDE shorts that run tts).
LEVI’S 501 CROPPED

(top)
I love this 501 cropped pair for so many different reasons. One, I’m always a fan of distressing and particularly like it on this pair (wash is Montgomery)… they’re a nice high waisted fit, and the leg is a more relaxed fit so they’re actually pretty comfortable to wear. I recommend getting your regular size, as they do run large (I also cut the hem on these). They just released a new color in these that I really like as well.
HIGH RISE BLACK JEANS

(top)
So, if you love stretch in your jeans, then this black pair is for you. They’re super stretchy and forgiving. I’m also a huge fan of the distressing at the hem and didn’t have to make any alterations to the length (these hit below my ankle). They also have a high waist fit. If you’re between sizes on these, I’d recommend sizing up, but otherwise your normal size should fit!
BDG WASHED BLACK JEANS

Alright, so I love the color of these BDG washed black jeans, and the distressing, but if you prefer your jeans to have stretch I don’t recommend them. I do think these jeans are really flattering and go with so many different outfits… since they’re not a true black they’re a little more casual. I went up one size in these since they don’t have stretch.
CHEEKY STRAIGHT JEANS IN BLACK + BLUE

If you prefer jeans without distressing, maybe a pair that you can wear to work, then these cheeky straight legs fit like a dream. They don’t have a ton of stretch, but they still fit really well. High waisted, a straight fit throughout the leg, but they don’t feel constricting. Over the past two years I purchased them in the black and the blue jean color and have been super happy with both. I did size up one, since the stretch is minimal.
