Fall Beauty Routine

When it comes to beauty, and makeup, I’ve been on the team “less is more” philosophy for years. I remember getting ready for nights out in college and always feeling as if I had way too much make-up on, only to have my roommates help me add additional eye makeup (all meant out of love)…. and then I realized that, no, in fact, I didn’t have much make-up on before….

Not much has changed since then… my daily make-up routine is fairly minimal, and even when we head out for an evening, that usually means I’m adding in some eyeshadow, light eyeliner (from a shadow pallet), and some lipstick (my everyday is typically chapstick). I’ve always loved the selection that Nordstrom beauty offers to help me achieve that minimal look … everything from haircare, skincare, to nail polishes, and makeup… and they also have some of my favorite sustainable and/or natural make-up products. So today I thought I would share with you some of my favorite everyday make-up products, and a few new shades I’ve added into the routine for fall.

FALL MAKE-UP

I typically start by mixing this primer into a small drop of foundation. I find that it gives me sufficient coverage without feeling as if I have a thick layer of foundation on… I liken it to a tinted moisturizer.

I then use NARS radiant concealer under my eyes and around my nose/other red areas… I’ve been using it for over two years now, and I love that it’s creamy and doesn’t crack, or dry my skin. It also provides great coverage.

Next is a little bit of blush and bronzer. I really love this creamy blush by RMS beauty… it goes on nicely and lasts for a while…I use shade SPELL, which I found to be a good, warm, color for fall. Then I apply a little bit of bronzer to my cheeks and nose. I’ve been using this RMS luminizing powder for two years now and it’s great… nice pigmentation, and provides the perfect amount of glow.

Then I move onto my eyes… by filling in my brows with the Anastasia brown definer (started using it last year and it works wonders!) and then a couple of coats of the Ilia limitless mascara.

That’s it for my regular weekday routine… it takes about 5 minutes… and that’s about all the time I have…

BUT, if I’m heading out for a date night or a dinner with some friends, then I add in the following products to elevate the look slightly….

I use the Ilia eyeshadow pallet in “warm” to add a glow to my eyes and line them in the dark brown shade. And I use the ilia illuminator or the RMS luminizer to add a glow to my brow bone, tip of my nose, and cheekbones. I finish it off with the prettiest fall nude shade in chere matte.

I apply all of my make-up using the Artis brushes… I’ve had them for a little over a year and a half and have been incredibly happy with how they apply my makeup (I find I don’t use nearly as much product when using them).

FRIDAY HAIR WASHING DAY

Friday is typically the day I carve out some extra time to give my hair a good wash. It’s after my long run, and sets me up with clean hair heading into the weekend. I always start by doing an Olaplex treatment on my hair to help repair it. I started this back in March and have been so happy with how healthy my hair feels. I start with the No. 0 intensive bond builder and then layer the No. 3 strengthener on top of it… and then I drop Harper off at school. When I get home I use the shampoo and conditioner combo, and in between the two I use this scalp mask (I swear this helps my hair grow quicker… once I started using one my hair grew exponentially quicker than before). Once I’ve styled my hair, I use the oil to smooth away flyaways and add extra nourishment. The Olaplex system comes in a holiday gift set this season as well.

And that’s it! I hope you all have a good weekend ahead. We’ve had a sick little miss over here this week so hoping she feels better this weekend so we can enjoy some festive activities. If not, it’ll be a lounge around the house kind of weekend (which is never a bad thing either).
