I headed to the zoo yesterday with little miss… it was a relatively last minute decision, but one that I’m happy we made….. we spent some time looking at the animals (and eagle (or in her world an owl…..) and an ocelot (in her world a little “kitty”)…. and couldn’t resist the monkeys. It’s a small zoo, so they have to have a few rides to compensate for that…. which is where we spent most of our time…. on the train, merry go round… and in the petting zoo. I tossed on my tried and true go-to cut-offs + henley thermal, and we headed out the door. It’s days like yesterday that always make me happy to have a closet full of go-to pieces….

Yet, for those days that I’m not heading into a play zone, I like to have a simple shift dress hanging in my closet to grab. It requires minimal thinking (I mean, it’s one piece… as opposed to jeans/shorts + a top….), is perfect in mild temps with a denim jacket, and can easily be made office or play appropriate with your shoe choice. When I stumbled across this one, I knew it would be perfect for the spring, summer, and fall months. It’s a heavier material, so it lays perfectly on the body…. and isn’t see through at all (no slip needed). The arm holes fit perfectly…. and the hardest decision I had was figuring out what color to choose. When it arrived, a few thoughts ran through my head…. this would be perfect for my sister (a teacher) and my girlfriend who just told me she’s pregnant with little man #2… as well as how great it would be as a cover-up too (simply knot the front hem and it looks more “off-duty” and laid back). So, while it isn’t perfect for yesterday’s zoo date with little miss… it’s pretty great for a plethora of other occasions….
