Everyday Style || The Functional Tunic Top

I had a moment of anxiety yesterday when I realized that my nesting instinct has come on in full force, but that I can’t actually “nest….” We’re still waiting for our permits to be approved, and the renovation to be completed, for our master bedroom/bath before we can shift all the rooms around and get settled. I have this suspicion that it won’t be completed within the next 7 weeks (and that’s assuming I go full term…) and the thought brings on a slight panic…..

So I try to remind myself that there is no need to worry about things that I can’t control, and to try and focus on that which I can actually do something about. So I started ordering items for the nursery (this rug + side table being two of them…), a few pieces to complete Harper’s room (these bookshelves), organizing some cabinets, making a list of newborn items that I’ll actually need + use (like diapers….)…. you get the picture….. and in between all of that I decided to do a little on-line perusing and found six items that I currently have in my cart from the Shopbop Sale (shared below)…..

But all that aside, I’ve been trying to be relatively strategic about the pieces I add to my wardrobe at this point. I want them to be functional and able to carry me over the next seven weeks, but I also want them to work for post pregnancy life. So when I stumbled across this adorable tunic dress I knew it would be perfect paired with jeans now, and as an adorable dress post pregnancy…. and since it can easily be an off the shoulder dress, it lends itself to being nursing friendly as well. It was obviously a no brainer addition to my closet a few weeks ago…..

Now I’m off to making more lists so I can feel like I’m doing something productive with my nesting instinct…..

A few items that I have my eye on from the Shopbop sale include:

Wood Hoop Earrings…. while I typically stick with dainty gold pieces for my jewelry selects, I think that these hoop earrings would make a subtle, yet beautiful, statement with a white dress or simple white blouse, jeans, and slides….

Beek Natural + White Slides…. one of my favorite brands for beautifully crafted, well made, sandals…. and this striped white + tan pair is slightly retro, yet super chic…. such an easy throw on and go option for the spring + summer…..

Chambray Paperbag Shorts…. while absolutely impossible to wear for the next 7 weeks… I have my eye on these cuties for the warmer months. I loved the paperbag trend from last season, and these would be adorable with a white cami and the above two items I mentioned.

Ivory Perforated Crossbody Bag… Zac Posen bags are always super cute and this one isn’t any exception…. it’s such a great option for day and night….

Polka Dot Dress…. I’m on the fence about which color way, but I think it looks like such an easy dress to wear after the little one arrives… and easy access for nursing as well…. I also think it would pair nicely with a cute denim jacket + straw hat.

Black Jumpsuit…. always a great basic to have on hand…. and this one looks super comfortable + soft… and as if it could easily transition me through the end of pregnancy and into post-pregnancy as well.
