Everyday Casual || Linen I’m Living In….

We typically get a very warm heatwave in the middle of February or March… and seemed to miss it this year… instead having weeks of rain (CA can always use the rain, so grateful for that). All that seemed to change last weekend. Temps were in the high 80’s (and continue to be into this week), which only beckoned us outside… spending time in the sun, eating outdoors, and just taking in all the fresh air.

 Whenever we get bouts of warm weather like this I take every opportunity to pull out all things summer. Summer clothing, au natural hair (I’ve been letting it air dry lately and it saves so much time…), favorite summer hats, crisp cocktails, and outdoor games….

And while we’d typically head down to the beach for lunch when these temperatures hit, we found hanging out in our backyard to be just as fun. Even when we’re hanging out at home, during this safe at home period, I try to always get dressed. Whether it’s comfortable shorts + a tee, or a comfortable pair of pants + a tank, it makes a huge difference in my mental disposition. It seems to make me feel as if I am, in fact, going somewhere.

Given that, I’m all about comfortable fabrics that move with my body and allow me to run after the girls, play a game of cornhole with TJ, or sit on our lawn chairs with a glass of vino and watch Harper on the trampoline. For that, I’ve been loving Lou + Grey’s new linen line.

I’ve been a huge Lou + Grey fan for several years, always recommending their signature soft line for all things loungewear. Well, their linen line isn’t any different for warm weather. It’s absolutely perfect for these spring and summer temps, and when I want to look pulled together but still incredibly comfortable. I’ve been on the hunt for a great pair of linen pants for several seasons and everything I came across was either too see through or just didn’t fit right. When I tried this pair on for the first time, they were a spot on fit. The elastic waistband means they fit nicely around the waist + the length was perfect for a short gal (I rolled mine up to give it a slightly more cropped fit, so they work for taller ladies too). They can easily be dressed down for this current time period, or dressed when we’re able to go out and about again. I love pairing it with this linen tank or basic tank. And these fun leopard shorts have the same fit, so I was naturally sold on them as well. You could easily pair them with a lightweight sweater for cooler spring days. If you’re craving something a little brezzier, loose fitting, and still chic then this button down linen dress is a beautiful option (straps are adjustable and the chest area has elastic in the back for a very comfortable fit). It might just be my Mother’s Day dress for an at home brunch!

So even though we’ll be at home for the next several weeks, I’m hoping to continue spending it outside, making memories with TJ + the girls, and feeling pulled together + comfortable in simple linen pieces.
