Simplicity was key this weekend. With a Saturday spent running around from tile showrooms (we’re re-doing our bathrooms starting next week!), the Nordstrom sale (TJ needed a few new work pieces… and I never say “no” to a trip to the mall), and a casual family celebration, there wasn’t a need to get all dolled up. Casual-chic is sometimes the hardest look to pull off… in my opinion. If I want to dress up, it’s easy to toss on a pair of heels, a pretty blouse, and my favorite accessories. Yet, casual can sometimes border on “I just rolled out of bed and didn’t bother to change.” So I have a few simple rules when wanting to look simple, yet put together.
The first rule? If there is a baggy piece, there needs to be a fitted item tossed into the mix. Throwing on a boyfriend shirt with this striped body-con dress is the perfect juxtaposition. My second rule… always pair it with a chic little shoe, with the emphasis on comfort. These little leopard kicks are still my go-to on a regular basis. Lastly, a few, typically no more than 3-4, simple accessories pull it all together!
