Cabo San Lucas || Where We Stayed + Ate, What We Wore + Did

As I mentioned in my last post a couple of weeks ago (didn’t mean for that much time to go by), the girls were out of school the last Friday of May, and that Saturday we headed down to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to kick off the summer season.

It had been 7 years since we’d been back to the area, and I wasn’t really sure what to expect… and wow, was it truly beautiful. The water was clear and the perfect temperature to cool you off from the desert sun, the desert landscaping beautiful, everyone was incredibly friendly, and the food was absolutely divine. Added bonus, for us in Southern California, it’s only a quick 2 hour flight south.

Since we hadn’t been back to the area in years, we really wanted to make sure where we were staying was family friendly, while still having the luxuries most Cabo hotels offer. After some research, we booked The Montage Los Cabos, and from the moment we arrived, to the moment we said good-bye, the service was impeccable (possibly the best service we’ve ever received from a hotel). The hotel is relatively modern, with desert landscaping. It has 3 restaurants, all of which have their own unique cuisine and decor, but same amazing quality of food and drink. We enjoyed daily breakfasts at Marea, which overlooks the ocean (and a delicious dinner there as well… amazing sea food), dinner at Mezcal, and Thai food at Thaliea.

As far as amenities go, they have an adults only pool area, that boasts a beautiful infinity ledge, as well as a sizable family pool, complete with a small wading area for littler ones (and the bathrooms even come complete with a stepping stool… when I tell you they’ve thought of everything, I mean everything). We didn’t utilize it, but they do have a kid’s club area as well (this is a frequently asked question).

Also worth noting, many of the beaches in front of hotels in Cabo are not swimmable. The Montage has a fully swimmable beach, which our girls both enjoyed.

For transportation, we worked with the hotel to pre-arrange a ride to and from the airport, which I highly recommend doing as the Cabo airport can be a bit overwhelming when you step outside with individuals offering rides. Having the transportation pre-arranged really streamlines that process.

My favorite dining experience had to have been our evening at El Farallon. It was basically dinner at the restaurant of my champagne loving heart’s dream. We headed to the champagne terrace, and restaurant, at the Waldorf Astoria and everything about the evening was 10/10. We tried 2 new champagnes, that we thoroughly enjoyed, since they allowed for tastings with a smaller pour, the menu was so fresh and delicious (it’s curated each evening based on local produce and catch, so everyday it’s different), and the views unmatched. Live entertainment started at 7, which only added to the ambiance, and they were kiddo friendly as well (and by that I mean the girls were very welcome and they had an additional children’s menu). I recommend a 5:45 reservation, and arrive at 5 to enjoy ample time at the champagne terrace. If you love champagne, add this to your list when visiting Cabo!

We also visited Flora Farms, which has been a favorite of ours on all our previous visits. It’s farm to table style, beautifully appointed, and they have some little shops that you can explore either before or after your meal. They also just earned a Michelin star, which is one of the first to be awarded in the Cabo area (or so we were told).

And lastly, worth adding to your list, is a boat excursion to see the arcs, swim, and snorkel. The hotel booked our excursion through Cabo Sailing and it was a beautiful and wonderful experience from start to finish.

I’m sharing a roundup of photos below, broken down into property images, dining, outfits, and the boat excursion. I hope it all helps if you’re considering a trip down to Cabo!
