Cabo San Lucas

IMG_8167

It’s no secret that TJ and I headed down to Cabo San Lucas this past weekend for an extended 4th of July. I’ve been twice before (if you count a spring break with my girlfriends in college as an actual trip) and once with TJ a couple years back. We immediately fell in love with the location for so many different reasons. The close proximity to the US (it’s a simple 2 hour flight from John Wayne), the friendliness of the locals, safety, and the overall beauty of the area. As perfect as the trip was, it didn’t start out so great. We arrived to less than stellar accommodations (we went out on a limb and rented a condo in San Jose) with broken air conditioning. Broken air conditioning simply wasn’t tolerable with the 90 degree heat and 90% humidity, so to make a very long story short, we packed up and headed to our old favorite hotel the Welk’s Resort.

You know that quote that has been floating around Pinterest? The one about how “Attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure.” Well that’s what I kept repeating in my head as we e-mailed the owner and attempted to resolve the issue (which, in the end everything got resolved). It’s so true though. The beginning of this trip could have been a complete disaster if we hadn’t worked together and kept reminding each other that no matter what, we were still in paradise and together. And that’s what traveling is all about 🙂

IMG_8141{Flora’s Farm was an absolute experience. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Cabo, in Puerto Los Cabos. All of their foods are organically grown (farm-to-table so to speak) and grown at their local farm. The food was delectable. Their cocktails were fresh (I had a “farmarita” which was a carrot juice margarita… and since it’s made with carrot juice I figured it was healthy…). Service was impeccable. They had a live band playing, under the setting sun and twinkly lights. It couldn’t have been a more magical evening.}

I had the champagne mojito with shrimp and vegetables… and the chow mein was certainly the perfect indulgence! The ambiance is beautiful, with hanging lanterns and beautiful red lighting.}

IMG_8227{We loved dinner at Flora’s Farm that we couldn’t resist a return trip for brunch. Can you blame us? I mean, when you see lemon ricotta pancakes on the menu you just don’t say “no.” And since I was going to be in a bathing suit later I mostly indulged in the homemade granola and yogurt with fresh fruit. A watermelon julep and an amazing bloody Mary were our cocktails of choice. A jazz band played in the background as we savored our food and cooled ourselves down with cold towel-ettes.}

We sat out on their patio, watched the sunset, and enjoyed one last cocktail of the trip. We may already be planning our next trip back….}
