When I was in college, I spent a summer working at Nordstrom. Back then they had a dress policy that allowed you to wear jeans, so long as you wore the essential “third piece.” This third piece could be anything. A hat, belt, blazer, and scarf were all acceptable just as long as you weren’t dressed in jeans and a tee. I liked the concept back then and I still, to this day, try to follow it. Especially as of late, where I have an inclination to just throw something on and not put much thought into it. The concept works though. If you follow along on instagram, you will likely notice that my has been relatively minimal. Yet, when I toss on a “third” piece it just looks a little more put together… and for this new mamma I’ll take all the help I can get.
When I received this shirtdress, I just knew that it would be versatile enough to wear over and over again. I love its simple shape because it allows me to wear it multiple ways. In the first look I opted to wear it as a sweater and to top it off with my favorite fatigue vest (my third piece).
In the second look, I wanted to keep it relatively minimal, so I paired it with my favorite OTK boots and fedora (my third piece). Each piece would likely be perfectly fine without the third, but when it’s added the outfit is elevated just a little bit more!
