We went to Harper’s first preschool performance last night. It was about the story of Christmas, and there really isn’t anything cuter than preschoolers singing + dancing. As I was watching her up there, I couldn’t help but think about how much she has grown up over the past six months…. seems as if she went from being as little as Camille to this budding, sassy, preschooler overnight. Of course she didn’t, but man time went quickly….

Other than reminding of how quickly little miss is growing up, the program really got me so excited for this season ahead. I think it’s easy to put a lot on your plate during this time of the year, but it’s actually during this time that I try to subtract. Mainly so we can slow down and try to savor the season as a family. Enjoy time in our warm home watching Christmas movies together, making cookies, reading our favorite Christmas books….

So when I was asked about family traditions, what readily came to mind were the movies we watch, the books we read, the cookies we make, and the Christmas Eve we host at our home. They’re really simple, nothing extravagent, but I know that these are the same traditions I remember from my childhood, so I truly believe that it’s most often the smaller moments, and how they make them feel, that children remember the most.
