Backyard Updates || A Corner For The Girls

When we first moved into our house, we knew that we wanted to get Harper a fun play-set that she could enjoy in the comforts of our own backyard… so for Christmas that year, we surprised her with it… and it’s been something that both girls have loved over the years. Then for one of Harper’s birthdays we surprised her with a trampoline and just like that over half of our backyard was overtaken with gymnasium activities. The more I looked at the space that held all of their activities, the more I realized how it wasn’t maximizing the space in the best way. I decided we’d leave it as is until we redid our backyard…

Then last year, when we did an entire backyard renovation, we made a few simple shifts (turned the play-set around so it was flush with the side fence, and pushed the trampoline back into an unused corner of the backyard, and it was as if we got back half of our yard. It’s sort of their own little nook of our backyard… where they play, color, build forts, and dig in the dirt for roly-polies.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to add a little sitting area for them… where they could have pretend tea parties, color, look at books, and have their morning/afternoon snacks…. I started my search for items at Walmart who has so many cute backyard and home pieces at great prices + quality. I was able to get these items shipped to me within two days, and I ordered the lanterns in store with curbside pickup (which is always appreciated when I have the girls in the car with me….). Walmart had everything I needed to update their little backyard space with items the girls were so excited about… like these pink and floral egg chairs, rattan lanterns (which tie in with our patio space), and a plush outdoor throw pillow for added comfort (it’s fade resistant which is a major bonus when items are outside).

And if you’re looking to make a few updates to elevate your outdoor space, I included a few other cute Walmart home finds bellow… I love the seagrass baskets for storing blankets and the girl’s toys, the trough planter would be so pretty with a bed of succulents, and the white outdoor throw pillow is neutral and goes with just about any theme you have in your backyard!

Here’s to a summer spent outside!
