Motherhood || Sending Little Miss Off To School + Styling Her Personality

Well, Harper is officially enrolled in pre-school, and when we return from Hawaii it will be a mere two weeks until she starts. I never thought I’d become emotional when she headed to school, but as I start to think about it, it tugs at my heart. Not because I wish she’d stay my little baby forever, but because I can’t believe how fast time goes. Seriously. At the risk of sounding incredibly cliché (and trite) time really is a thief. I realize that by sending her to school she will only continue to be gone longer stretches of time and grow upwards. I’m so excited to see her flourish personally…  to further cultivate her own interests, form her own friendships, and foster her curiosity (we’re currently in the “why” stage for everything….). So when I do officially drop her off at school I’ll do so with an excited heart… one that knows she’s fully ready for this transition… but I’ll also have a tinge of happy sadness (is that I thing… I think so…) as I reflect on the little baby she once was + who she is now….

And for her back to school needs we were sure to check out Walmart’s Back to School collection. Full of on-trend clothing items, adorable backpacks, cute kicks, + pieces that made Harper say “Ohhhh I like that….” and really personified her vivacious personality. She’s been really into backpacks lately + when she saw this little unicorn + leopard print (I also liked this rose gold backpack, but Harper preferred more color!) ones she was obsessed…. I don’t think she’s taken off the backpack since she received it… literally takes it everywhere. And since she loves anything soft + stretchy this sweatshirt + denim shorts (with great stretch) were great options. With her activity level more on the active side of the spectrum, we also needed to find a pair of shoes that were comfortable for all day wear… and she knew this “sparkly pom” pair was both stylish + sturdy enough to take her from activity to activity. Walmart has such a wide range of great children’s brands, like The Children’s Place, and I love that Harper is set to head to her first school experience in style!

What are your top priorities for back to school shopping this year?!
