I’m sure I’m not alone when I write this, but I feel as if the past 10 months have been a whirlwind of adapting, adjusting, rearranging, and changing. Just when something seems to fall into a groove and rhythm, things change. I guess the saying “Change is the only constant in life” really hit home over the past several months.
And while “change” can be applied to all facets, it really struck us hard with regards to our schedules. Right before COVID began, we had a great schedule with a babysitter + Harper going to preschool part time… the house rhythm was great. Then that came to a stop and we had to adjust. Then there was a period where having a babysitter come back into the home was appropriate, and then it wasn’t again…. and so here we are, working with moving parts, and trying to make it all work. Yet what I’ve realized amidst all the change is that as long as I start and end my day a certain way it helps me feel as if we’ve been thrown off a little less.
With that being said, I try to start my day with a little bit of “me time” and end my day with a little bit of “me time.” I begin the day with my workouts (I’m a morning person) and after the girls go down, I do something that helps me to “unwind” (although I’m not sure watching “The Undoing” is really helping me to “unwind…” haha). When the girls are asleep (morning + night), it’s the best way for me to insure minimal interruptions.
While I know every family finds their own rhythms and routines that work for them, I thought I’d share our current schedule since I know a lot of people are in our same situation.
I hope everyone has a great day!
