A Throwback to the 90’s… The “Duster”

maxi sweater, distressed denim, mules

This maxi cardigan (or “duster” cardigan as it was called back in the 90’s) is number 1,546 why I have a fear (okay, slight phobia) of cleaning out my closet. Not that the act of “cleaning” is the problem. It’s the “giving away,” or “purging” of items I haven’t worn in a while that creates the propensity to become a hoarder…. the “what-if” hamster wheel that perpetually runs through my mind. “What-if” it comes back in style in a few years… “What if I can’t find something just like this one?” I’m sure these same thoughts plagued me when I gave away my duster cardigans while rocking out to N’SYNC (“Bye, Bye, Bye” to be exact) back in the 90’s. Annnnd, now that they are back, I choose to rock them in a slightly more refined manner (because who knows how I wore them back in the day…). I love it paired with a skinny jean and high heel… or cute sneakers and a slouchy top. I chose this particular look for a casual date night out to our favorite Mexican spot this past weekend…. I also thought about dressing it up with a fitted dress and these same heels… clearly, the jeans won.

And on a complete side note, can I just say that by the end of the day yesterday (Monday) I was already completely ready for Friday?! Is that bad?? I’ve been fighting off a cold all weekend (and today), so wish me luck that I can kick it by the weekend!
