We took down, and packed up, all our Christmas decorations on Sunday and it’s always a bittersweet day for me. On the one hand, I love getting the house back to a somewhat more organized state. Yet, it’s also a reminder that the holiday season is over… which always makes me a little sad. There’s just something about the holiday season that leaves something special hanging in the air….
My dad and I were talking about this Christmas Eve, when we went to pick up the chicken pot pies for dinner that evening (it’s been a tradition we started 3 years ago, when he retired)…. it feels as if everyone is just a little kinder… and it’s not really until the holiday season is over that you realize it… people tend to smile just a little more, greet one another in kinder ways, and seem to have a more tender disposition to them. And after the past couple of years, it sort of felt like a reprieve from reality….
It was a full holiday season for us… seeing relatives we’d missed for two years, sneaking away for a 24 hour, adults only, getaway, and making memories with the girls we will remember forever. We were lucky to remain well enough to take advantage of all the season had to offer, and for that, I am so grateful. And I hope you had a wonderful holiday season as well.
Here’s to 2022 and all it has to offer!
