A Holiday Bucket List

I used to make holiday bucket lists all the time… and then last year we were really limited in what we could do, so I put it aside. But now that we’re moving around a little more than last season, I figured I’d put together something small… things at home and away… that would be fun to do as a family….

One of the activities on the list was to have a fall/winter beach bonfire. I used to do these all the time in high school with friends… we’d bundle up, head down to the Newport Beach bonfire pits, and just hang out…. but we’ve never done one as a family. Plenty of warm weather beach days, but bundling up and heading down to the water for some s’mores, a sunset, and waves crashing isn’t something I could say we’d done before. So last Thursday we started our weekend early and crossed one of the activities off of the list….

There is a local restaurant (The Beachcomber in Crystal Cove) that actually makes it really easy for anyone to enjoy. For a fee, they will set everything up (chairs, fire-pit, extra lighting for when the sun goes down) and provide the s’mores and beverages (you can bring your own food, or they have a menu that you can choose from). All you have to do is get yourself there and then enjoy your time. I’ve lived here all my life and had no clue that was ever an option….

Needless to say, we had a wonderful time and it’s something that I 100% want to do again!

And I’m sharing the rest of our holiday bucket list below, in case you’re looking for a fun idea for the family during this time of the year (some are more local, but I’m pretty sure similar ideas are available all over)…..

Fall/Winter Beach Bonfire
Skating By The Sea at Hotel Del Coronado
Take Harper To See The Nutcracker
Go See The Snow (yes, this is something on a bucket list for those in So. Cal, haha)
Thanksgiving Sleepover At My Parent’s House + Watching “Christmas Vacation” With The Adults (maybe one of my all time favorite traditions)….
Holiday Family Movie Night With Dessert Board (literally the easiest thing and the girls love it)
Hot Coco + Piling In The Car To Look At Christmas Lights
Deck Out The Front Yard In Festivity (we’re an inflatables family now…)
Family Night, With Music, Decorating The Tree
Read All Of Our Favorite Christmas Books
Adopt a Family For The Holidays, Have The Girls Help Select Items
Cookie Baking Day At My Parents
Have The Girls Bake Cookies And Drop Them Off At Neighbors As A Simple Gift

And that’s it! I’m sure we won’t get to all of the bigger items, but I love the simplicity of everything at home and how they create equally as special memories. Would love to know any of your traditions or “bucket list” items this year!
