When I was young my summer wardrobe was pretty simple. I was either frolicking between our backyard pool, or my best friend’s pool three houses down, in a bathing suit OR I was in cut-off shorts and a tee. And to be honest, that was pretty much all I needed. Summer evenings were warm enough to wear shorts outside as we dined al fresco, running away from the terrifying June bugs and begging for a late night swim with the illuminating pool light. If it became too chilly, we simply threw on a sweater. Now that I am older I have finally come to terms with the fact that my childhood summer wardrobe staple of a bathing suit and cut-off shorts is no longer acceptable. Sadly, as much as I would like, I cannot prance around in my bathing suit eating Otter Pops (grape please!) all day long. Yet, I can continue to wear cut-offs on warm summer nights.
