For the past 18 months it’s become sort of a weekend tradition to make a big brunch for breakfast. The girl’s help with the pancakes. We make avocado toast with poached eggs. Make some bacon. Cut up some fresh fruit… and make muffins or order some donuts. It’s quite the feast, and to be honest, every time we contemplate going out for Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast, we opt not to. It’s one of the things that started during all the time we spent at home, and something I’m so glad we’ve continued doing… It’s the best of both worlds… a slow Saturday morning with delicious food….
And now with Harper being back in school, and earlier mornings, the weekend has taken on an extra special meaning. Two days of sleeping in (well, 7:30 with two little ones), moving at our own pace, and having minimal responsibilities (I’m going to relish in this because I know as they get older this will change) is an amazing feeling. And to be honest, the last thing I want to do on the weekends is spend time battling crowds in a grocery store… whether it’s for our weekend brunch items or our back to school snack and lunch essentials.
To solve that issue, we’ve been using our Walmart+ membership over the past eleven months to save time and spend it where it matters most. With the Walmart+ membership I am able to get free same- day delivery from our local store (with a $35 order minimum, and some restrictions) with the same great prices that they offer in store. I appreciate that it only takes me about 10 minutes to select the items I need… and when Friday mornings are chaotic, it’s nice that I can order all the items we enjoy for our weekend breakfasts and have them delivered later that day (everything from a large bag of avocados to Simple Mills pancake mixes and organic eggs) without having to step foot in the store. Then when Sunday morning rolls around, I can place a quick order for the week ahead for a few of the girl’s favorites like the Cascadian Farms cereal line the girls love to have for snacks, various Simple mills crackers, our go-to sandwich break (Dave’s Killer Bread) and organic fresh produce for snacks.
The Walmart+ membership is $12.95 a month (say good-bye to per delivery fees) and pays for itself in just two deliveries based on the $7.95 delivery fee. It saves us time that we can spend swimming in the pool, going on a family hike or bike ride, and having family together for our weekend brunches or BBQs. The program offers different benefits based on zip code and they also offer a free 15 day trial. Trying it out and seeing how much time you’ll end up saving is a win-win.
