Beauty Wellness || The Beauty Products I Tried, But Couldn’t, Live Without

Over the past several years, mainly since Harper was born, I started making small changes here and there to my skincare routine. Once I was finished with another product, I’d try a new one to see how effective the other one really was. If I noticed a shift in the way my skin/hair felt, in a negative way, then I knew the product was well worth the investment, and getting back into a relationship with….

Skincare is a pretty personal choice, and with so many different options out there, I think it’s hard to really sift through what works. My skin tends to be more of a combination complexion…. I tend to be oily on my chin areas (currently dealing with some strange breakout that I haven’t had since before I got pregnant with Camille…) and then in the winter it can be dry…. so I obviously veer towards products that work for that skin type.

Today I’ve compiled a list of products that I’ve tried, but couldn’t, live without…. because my complexion just wouldn’t let me! Most of them are clean and/or non-toxic.
______

THE PRODUCTS I RETURN TO OVER + OVER AGAIN

TULA EXFOLIATOR: I initially started using this exfoliator 4 years ago… and when I was pregnant switched to a different one since it had a variation of retinol in it. Once I had Camille I immediately switched back since I just didn’t find anything to work as well. Since then, I’ve run out, tried another product I was sent, and have always returned to the TULA line. It leaves my skin looking bright + feeling so smooth. Code ITSYBITSY for 15% off.

ELEMIS PRO COLLAGEN CLEANSING BALM (ROSE): Hands down the best cleanser ever. I ran out back in December and completely forgot to reorder, so I went without for a couple of weeks. I tried some cleansers I had in the house and they just didn’t compare. At all. This one is so luxurious, does an excellent job of removing makeup, and leaves my skin feeling so so soft. I got my mom hooked on it as well. It’s currently 20% off with code July4.

BILLIE SHAVING CREAM: I started using this about a year ago on subscription. Then I lost my debit card, had to get a new one, and forgot to update the card. I used regular body soap thinking it would be the same and just realized it wasn’t. Love the grapefruit scent, that it has the lowest EWG rating, and that it helps give me a really close shave. I also use the razors.

NECESSAIRÉ EUCALYPTUS DEODORANT: Note to self with this, it just runs out without warning. That being said, I had to order more online (only way to get it) and had to rely on my other natural deodorant. I figured it would be a good test. While I still liked my other brand (Native) the scent, feel, and overall effectiveness of this one was much better for my body. I do believe ours bodies react differently to deodorants, but it’s been great for me.

ALL NECESSAIRÉ BODY PRODUCTS: Ok, I should have just said it above, but all of the products are amazing. Even TJ loves the Sandalwood scent body soap. They leave my skin feeling super soft, the scents are luxurious, and they’re non toxic as well. I’ve been using them for 4 months now and have gone through several tubs of the body lotion, body wash (TJ started using it too so it goes really fast now…), and the body exfoliator.

PLAYA SHAMPOO: Over the past year I have been working on switching out hair products to cleaner, non-toxic, brands. I started with my shampoo and have been super happy with the Playa line. When I ran out I tried another line and ended up wanting to return to the Playa brand. I find it suds up really nicely and leaves my hair nice and clean. Plus the smell reminds me of the beach. I did try the conditioner and found it to not work for my hair type, so I’m not recommending that product.

TAN-LUXE FACIAL TANNING DROPS: LOVE these. My favorite. I lived without them during the winter and couldn’t wait to start using them again in the Spring. They’re clean and leave no streaks or weird fading (they do have a smell even though they claim not to…). I put 2 drops in my evening facial oil and spread it over my face. I wake up in the morning with just enough color. Highly recommend.

ELEMIS PEPTIDE PLUMPING PILLOW FACIAL: In full disclosure I lost this product (I don’t know how…) for a couple of weeks and could see a difference. I feel as if this overnight cream gives me a nice boost in facial plumpness and overall glow. I mean, it doesn’t take away that which botox likely would (crows feet, etc…) but my skin just looks healthier when I use it. 20% off with code July4
