When I was in Vegas last weekend I was looking for something a little less dressy than the typical skirt and blouse. I’m loving monochromatic looks right now.  They’re simplistic, effortless, and classic… just how I like it. Yet, to avoid being too one dimensional the accessories are critical. Which is why I chose this buffalo plaid scarf (you’ve heard of the boyfriend jeans and sweater, right? I call this the “boyfriend” scarf… literally plucked from the hubby’s closet) and sparkly stunners. A carefully positioned pony-tail, with a “I didn’t spend a minute on it,” (even though I admittedly spent about 10 minutes on it) look pulls it all together. This look takes me back to the times in college, in Vegas with my girlfriends, when we thought we were so “put together” in our ripped denim and fancy tops… well… okay, only the jeans take me back to that place.

As I’ve mentioned several times before, when I have an item/trend/style in my mind, there is no stopping me. So, when we were approached by a new app called StyleSpotter, I couldn’t help but get excited! It’s a fabulous iPad (regular or mini) app that allows you to create a personal profile, save items, and create collections (mine include “road trip,” “shoes,” and “birthday party”). Browse clothing, handbags, shoes (one of my favorites), accessories, and jewelry from different designers and retailers, all in one spot (you no longer need to have 100’s of tabs open while you search for that perfect item!). Maybe one of the best features of this already fabulous app is that you can track items you’re loving… and get notifications when those items go on sale! AND, who doesn’t love it when a coveted piece is price reduced?! Here is how you can use the app to shop my look above:

In the StyleSpotter app you can search for these pieces via the brand (i.e. “rebecca minkoff”) or key words (i.e. “plaid scarf”). Once you find the item, you have the option to save it (clicking on the heart), add it to a previously created collection (clicking the “+” sign), shop the item, or see the current deals on the item (I recently received free shipping and 10 % off by using this feature on a highly coveted pair of shoes).
