(Beautiful, warm, weekend in So. Cal)
When I was in graduate school we took an entire semester’s course in the Life Cycle. Upon first glance, it sounds like a relatively basic and boring class, but it was one of the classes that I ultimately ended up referring back to time and time again in my clinical work. The premise of the class is that there are multiple life cycles throughout an individual’s life (marriage, childbirth, parenting, becoming empty nesters, aging, end of life, etc….) which require them to be adaptive and shift to the changing circumstances. So often in life, this is where adjustment problems can arise, so being aware of these particularly challenging life points is helpful….
And sometimes you make the same life cycle transition more than once… like having children. TJ + I alway chat about how we had just gotten to a place with Harper where life felt to be moving in a steady rhythm… where life flowed and was so simple. Then we decided (and were lucky enough) to enter into the cycle all over again with Camille. We knew it would be a transition… that we’d have to change, adapt, and be patient with life. And it’s been all three of those things….
Yet with passing time, we seem to be reintroducing facets of our previous life that we loved and cherished. This past weekend we headed out to our first date night since Camille was born. It felt so good to get dressed up, head out just the two of us, and enjoy an uninterrupted conversation over a couple libations, good food, and music playing in the background.
There were a few times throughout the day that I thought it would just be so much easier to just relax outside by the fire-pit, but I realized that date nights have always been something we have needed. So while this life transition has had its ups + downs, it’s one we happily (and willingly) chose… and therefor it’s up to us to make the healthy adjustments. Like scheduling in uninterrupted time together.
Annnnd, we’ll be heading on our first family of four, 5 hour airplane ride this Thursday morning. Soooo, let’s see how we handle that one as parents…..
Have a great week friends!
**I also have no clue why my posts were sent out this weekend, working on the issue and apologies!

For traveling, I’m bringing these cozy joggers, super soft pullover, biker shorts (love the color), and these trainer sneakers.
I also purchased this hat carry on travel box. I felt as if my hats were getting so deformed in my suitcases so hoping this helps…
