One of the things I missed out on last summer, because I was pregnant with little miss, were the fun cocktails that abound. TJ and I have always enjoyed a little mixology on a Saturday evening, and it was something I loved including on the blog (a few favorite here, here, here). In fact, our last night in Barcelona we had the tastiest Gin & Tonics, and made sure to note all the ingredients to replicate it for the blog…. yet… I was pregnant upon return, so it was a no go. Needless to say, I couldn’t be any less pregnant at this point and as we head into the summer months, I can’t wait to toss in a little mixology here and there.
Yet, those cocktails can certainly pack a punch when it comes to the sugar and calorie arena. So, a few weeks back, TJ and I decided to do a “juice flight” at Juice Served Here, one of my favorite juice spots. As we were sipping and deciding on our favorites our minds logically drifted to evening cocktails (totally normal, right?). We decided that so many of these health benefit juices would pair perfectly with some of our favorite spirits. And so, we brainstormed and picked up a few of our favorite juices to experiment. What I love about the juices are that the benefits of each can be found when you go to order them…. and there is literally a juice for anything you can think of! Consider this my summer gift to you… sipping a cocktail while doing good for your body. You can find them all below!

Pixie Punch
1/2 Champagne of choice (we used Chandon)
1/2 #12 The Pixie Juice (strawberry, pineapple, orange)
1 oz St. Germaine
Ice
Fill the glass with ice and then pour in equal parts champagne and juice. Mix in the St. Germaine, and top off with a little more champagne. We garnished it with violas (edible flowers) and a pretty little strawberry. This was my favorite (it was a really hard choice though!)… and when I made it over Mother’s Day weekend everyone remarked how good it would be at a brunch… or simply sipping poolside (I’ll take either though, I don’t discriminate).
Charcoaled Lemonade
2oz Vodka (we used Tito’s)
8 oz #19 Charcoal Lemonade (Alkaline Water, Raw Sugar Cane Juice, Lemon, Montmorillonite Clay, Activated Charcoal)
1 oz Simple Syrup
Basil Leaves
Pink Lemons (or regular ones… either works)
Fill a cocktail shaker with vodka, juice, and simple syrup. In a glass filled with ice, pour in cocktail mixture. Top with basil leaf and pink lemon slice. This is super refreshing… and a twist on the classic vodka lemonade (anyone remember Mike’s Hard Lemonade??)…. it was Allison’s favorite of the mix. How’s it healthy?? Charcoal can act as a detoxifier, can boost energy, and help to cure a hangover (maybe not in this case though….).
Spiced Tequila Mule
2 oz Tequila (we used Don Julio)
4 oz #15 Hot Lei Juice (Pineapple, Alkaline Water, Lemon, Honey, Cayenne)
Ginger Beer
Mint Sprig
Combine tequila and juice in a cocktail shaker and shake away. Fill the mule glass with crushed iced. Pour the mixture into the glass and top off with ginger beer to taste. Stir and poke at the ice to mix in the ginger beer. Then garnish with a mint sprig, sip, and enjoy! There is definitely a kick to this drink, given that there is cayenne in the juice… but it’s super tasty… this one was TJ’s favorite!
Since part of being well and happy includes spending time with friends and family, I’ve committed myself to planning small little get togethers this summer! With that comes the need for cute items to entertain with! I’m loving these small and colorful appetizer dishes, gold straws, and multi colored table runner. I just purchased these cute cocktail napkins, and love the pineapple cheese board! And these napkins are just too true!
